Blackboard paint makes excellent, semi flexible, moisture proof transformer paint, even over rust!

Don't throw out your old toothbrushes, specially denture ones as they make wonderful non scratching cleaning brushes for tight spots and wonderfil in knob flutes etc.

Speaking on dental stuff, get yourself a set of used dental picks, (great for closing up tube sockets)tweezers, forceps and hemostat's (fine needle nose pliers), you will find these invaluable and I guarantee you will use them routinely

Don't try and removed dry sellotape and sticky stains with alcohol or solvents you will ruin the finish, I highly recommend you use 'Desolvit' or similar orange or citrus based cleaners

Got a burnt out eco fluoro bulb?, don't chuck it away, crack the base open, there's a good supply or 1N4007's diodes, caps resistors, 4.5mh chokes and 6.8uf 400v electros that you can series up for free filter caps!

Stove enamel polish/wax (not the paint) is a fantastic black wrinkle finish restorer, use right over rust, wont stick to polished surfaces, buff with rag - zebo grate polish I recommend, nice black matt finish.

Desoldering dry braid not working well, add a liquid soldering flux to it or to some fine braided wire and make your own!

Experimenting with coils and the likes and want a cheap dope?, throw your polystyrene chip packaging into a cup full of auto lacquer paint thinners till they wont dissolve readily and you have the real stuff and you help the environment to boot.
